Context Atlas privacy policy

Information used

When you open the extension on an HTTP(S) page, Context Atlas reads the visible page passages needed to show source-backed results. Local keeps the page text in this browser.

Cloud sends your question and bounded visible page passages only after you choose Cloud and start a search. No page text is sent before that user action.

Storage and credentials

The optional Cloud access key is stored locally in Chrome extension storage. It is not shown after saving and is not sent to page scripts or Local search. You can remove it in Settings or by uninstalling the extension.

Your selected search mode is also stored locally so the last choice is remembered. New installations start with Local.

Model data

Local search downloads only the pinned model and tokenizer data from the model hosts declared in the extension. Inference runs in this browser, with WebGPU preferred and bundled WASM as the fallback. Model hosts receive model data, not page text.

Cloud services

If you choose Cloud, Context Atlas sends the search question, current page details, bounded visible page passages, and the locally stored Cloud access key to the configured Cloud search service only after you start the search. That service's own privacy policy applies to the request. Local search does not send page text to that service.

Retention and deletion

Context Atlas has no account or analytics history. The current page snapshot lasts only for the active browser session. The selected search mode and optional Cloud access key remain in local extension storage until changed, cleared in Settings, or removed by uninstalling the extension. Cloud retention is governed by the configured Cloud service.
